Service & support

Everything from a single source for your laboratory project

Delivering a lab container is a complex undertaking that requires expertise across many disciplines. From engineering design through manufacturing and logistics to statutory approvals — every step must be carefully coordinated to achieve an optimal result.

At Planexus that is exactly what we offer: a single point of contact for every aspect of your laboratory project. Our six core services interlock seamlessly and ensure that your lab container is not only technically sound, but also delivered on time and within budget.

What sets us apart from other providers? We do not see ourselves as mere contractors, but as partners who think with you. Our engineers and project managers bring long-standing laboratory-construction experience and know the challenges that arise when delivering a container laboratory. That allows us to identify and resolve issues early — before they become delays or extra cost.

Every service references concrete standards: ISO 14644 for cleanrooms, DIN 1946-7 for ventilation, ISO 17025 for testing laboratories, EU-GMP Annex 1 for pharma, TRBA 100/120 for BSL-3, EN 60079 for ATEX and BioStoffV for biological agents. For pharma and biotech lab containers and research and university laboratories we deliver sector-specific configurations with complete qualification documentation.

Modular laboratory construction follows defined standards: Planexus documents the conformity of every service with a standards reference and test evidence — from design through manufacturing to commissioning. The decentralised control room monitors all container units remotely, regardless of location.

Why Planexus?

Expertise

Long-standing experience of our managing directors in modular laboratory construction, with numerous successfully delivered projects.

Efficiency

Short project durations through optimised processes and experienced teams.

Quality

Manufactured ‘Made in Germany’ to the highest standards, with comprehensive quality control.

Transparent and traceable

How your project proceeds — step by step

From the first enquiry through to return at the end of the project — we accompany you through the entire life cycle of your lab container. No other provider shows you so openly what happens.

01

Enquiry and initial meeting

Your enquiry arrives — by telephone, email or contact form. We arrange an initial introduction by video conference promptly. In this conversation we clarify your requirements, the intended use and the framework conditions of your project.

02

Detailed discussion and needs analysis

In a thorough conference call we discuss the technical details: which laboratory processes will run? Which containment level is required? Which utilities are available on site? Where needed, we combine a site visit with other journeys in your region.

03

Design, quotation and order

On the basis of the needs analysis our engineers prepare detailed plans — CAD drawings, 3D visualisations and MEP concepts. You receive a transparent quotation. Once the order is placed, implementation begins immediately.

04

Site assessment and permits

We review delivery and siting together with you: structural stability certificate, building-law assessment, expert reports and access conditions. If a building permit is required, we handle coordination with the authority — or inspect the site in person.

05

Manufacturing at our own works

Your lab container is built at our works in Albstadt — custom-manufactured, not off the shelf. Under controlled conditions and with comprehensive quality control. You receive regular updates on construction progress. Via the A81 we deliver, for example, lab containers to Stuttgart in 1.5 hours — without a freight-forwarding detour.

06

Transport by low-loader

The finished container is transported by low-loader directly to your site — without special permits and without time delays. For international projects we can, if required, also handle complete customs clearance.

07

Siting by mobile crane

On site the container is placed by mobile crane — by local partner companies or our established network of specialist crane contractors. We coordinate everything: crane standing area, access and time window.

08

Assembly and installation

For larger plants we handle assembly and installation — with local installation partners or our own installation crew. Utility connections, laboratory equipment, safety systems — everything is connected professionally.

09

Final inspection and handover

After installation is complete, a comprehensive functional test of all systems follows. Only when everything is running correctly do we hand the plant over to you — turnkey and ready for operation.

10

Ongoing service and maintenance

We remain available after handover. Recurring services, maintenance and inspections are carried out by local contract partners or our Europe-wide service crew — depending on location and need.

11

Collection and return protocol

When the project ends, we collect the container. Before dismantling, the plant is inspected for damage and a detailed return protocol is prepared. Return transport is by low-loader in the same way.

12

Cleaning, decontamination and refurbishment

Back at our works the container is fully cleaned, professionally decontaminated and prepared for the next deployment. Sustainability is not a slogan — our containers have several life cycles.

Distinguishing capability

Decentralised control room — your plant in view, worldwide

Our most important distinguishing capability: we monitor your container units remotely — wherever in the world they stand. Via our decentralised control room we check operational status, climate data, safety systems and operating parameters in real time.

In the event of a fault we are contacted directly by the affected unit — automatically and immediately. That allows us to respond before a problem escalates. No other provider offers you this level of security.

Worldwide monitoring

Every container unit is monitored remotely around the clock — regardless of location.

Automatic fault alerts

If values deviate, the unit contacts us directly — we respond before you notice.

Proactive service

Climate data, safety systems, operating parameters — everything in real time, everything documented.

Maximum operational reliability

Minimise downtime, optimise maintenance intervals — your plant runs when you need it.

Application areas for our lab containers

Our modular laboratory solutions are used across many sectors and applications — from pharmaceutical research to environmental analysis.

Pharmaceutical research & development
Chemical analysis & quality control
Biotechnology & life sciences
Environmental and water analysis
Food testing
Materials testing & materials engineering
BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories
Mobile research stations

Frequently asked questions about our services

What services does Planexus provide for lab containers?

Planexus delivers six core services from a single source: specialist engineering design (CAD, MEP, ISO 14644 cleanrooms), modular construction and manufacturing (steel frame, BSL-3 engineering), logistics and installation (transport, siting, commissioning across DACH), laboratory equipment (ISO 17025, GMP, DIN EN 14175), consulting and permits (LBO, BImSchG, BioStoffV) and Smart Lab integration (IoT, GMP data capture, Annex 11).

Can I book individual services or only the complete package?

Both are possible. You can commission individual services such as design, consulting or logistics separately. For turnkey lab containers we recommend the complete package, because all interfaces — design, manufacturing, equipment, permits and transport — are coordinated in-house. That shortens overall project time and eliminates trade clashes.

How long does a lab-container project take from enquiry to handover?

Standard lab containers (BSL-2, analytical): 8–12 weeks. GMP cleanroom or BSL-3 containers: 18–24 weeks including qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ). Series projects such as LABtoGO: 6–8 weeks. The 12-stage project process covers enquiry, needs analysis, design, permits, manufacturing in Albstadt, transport, siting, installation, testing and handover.

Which sectors does Planexus supply lab containers to?

Pharma and biotech (GMP Annex 1, ISO 14644), research and universities, public health and emergency preparedness (BSL-2/3), industry and materials testing (ISO 17025), energy transition H2 and battery (ATEX EN 60079), oil, gas and refining (ATEX, AwSV, fuel QC), education and further sectors. Each sector receives a standards-specific configuration — from cleanroom through BSL-3 to ATEX.

Where is the lab container manufactured and who delivers it?

Final assembly and fit-out take place at the Planexus works in Albstadt (Baden-Württemberg). Transport by low-loader throughout DACH, internationally by rail or sea freight. Siting by mobile crane, utilities connection and turnkey handover by our own installation teams. Via the A81, locations such as Stuttgart are reachable in 1.5 hours.
